a note from Rachel

After 7 years of being in the wedding industry, I have become more and more passionate about keeping you in the moment on your wedding day and making photos feel easy. I’m a believer that wedding days shouldn’t be all about photos, but the photos should be all about the wedding day.   A photo of your grandma hugging you after the ceremony will always be my top priority over the tedious details, and you dancing in  the morning with your girls getting ready is way more memorable then starting a schedule exactly on time. 
 
I’m direct enough to keep the party moving, and clear enough to keep you guys confident behind the camera. Above all, I value marriage as a gift from God and want to help celebrate you two entering a covenant under Christ!  My faith is most important to me, and I love what God had taught me about marriage in these 7 years of this job and 4 years of my own marriage. It’s a privilege to photograph it!

10 hours because I don’t want to miss a thing. After years of trial and error I know 10 hours is exactly what I need to not squeeze anything in, but get all the real moments with lots of flexibility in between

Second shooters do a great job adding to the wedding day experience, and final gallery! They are not necessary, and in my experience i’ve done about half my weddings without one. They add about 150-200 photos to the gallery on average, and also serve as an extra pair of hands to help assist the bride and groom on their day with me. If you have a large bridal party, or aren’t doing a first look, I would definitely add a second shooter. Ask me more during our consultation call!

Engagement photos should be scheduled in the next available season that you want for photos! If you get engaged in November, book me in December, and hope for Summer photos at the beach then let’s immediately pick a June date for photos. I recommend doing engagement photos about 9-12 months before your wedding so you can use the photos in the gallery for your wedding website, save the date, etc. For location, tell me your vision and i’ll narrow down the exact location based off what i’ve shot at before.

The deposit is $800 to secure the date, and the remaining balance is due two weeks before the wedding date.
Absolutely! Even though I have a travel fee, I love to travel and explore Northern Michigan in my work. I’ve done weddings in Traverse City, Charlevoix, and other nooks of Northern Michigan before. Please don’t hesitate to ask.

Absolutely! The photography takes up most of the day, so I love when brides leave it in my hands. We will work together to piece together your schedule so it flows perfectly. I don’t expect you to be the expert, as this is your first wedding day and what feels like my millionth haha!

I can help you decide based off your priorities in our consultation. I’m definitely team pro first look because I think it creates a less stressed bride + groom, and more enjoyable day, but if your heart is set on no first look we can make a photo schedule  work around it.
